I have been playing competitive softball since I was 12 years old, and I started

doing strength and conditioning shortly after I started softball. All of the workouts were

geared toward softball players and the muscles and movements used specifically for the

sport. When Jocilyn recommended that I start doing CrossFit, I was definitely reluctant

at first. Once I started, I fell in love with the sport. CTC has impacted my athletic career

by encouraging me to work hard and life the healthiest lifestyle possible. After starting at

CTC CrossFit and committing to being the best I could be I started eating healthier and

watching what foods I was eating. I also found myself working harder and harder in the

gym, which has brought me to be in much better shape and helped me be a well-

rounded athlete. All of the workouts at CTC are designed to hit every muscle and you

truly do get a full body workout, which has helped me be an athlete, rather than just a

softball player.

During my time as a member of CTC CrossFit I have grown not only has an

athlete, but also as a person. I have learned what it means to work hard and be

committed so something every single day. CrossFit is not just a workout, it’s a lifestyle.

Also, through CTC I have learned the limits that I can push my body to and how to be

mentally tough. I have learned that I am capable of anything that I set my mind to as

long as I have no self-doubt. Being a member at CTC CrossFit has helped me become

more outgoing and build my self-confidence, which I have carried into other aspects of

my life.

To anyone interested in starting CrossFit, I suggest just going for it. You have to

dive straight in and start getting comfortable with the uncomfortable. There are going to

be workouts that may make you wonder why you are putting yourself through it, but

those are the days that make you even better. You have to keep coming back and keep

pushing yourself, because settling will not get you anywhere. You also have to

understand that results will not come after one or two classes. Results take time and

commitment to the lifestyle both in the gym and at home. Going to the gym is half the

battle; you have to eat the right things and have the right mindset every single day. Most

importantly though, do not give up. It will be hard, but I promise it will most definitely be

worth it.

CTC CrossFit is truly a family. It is a place where anyone is welcome and greeted

with open arms. We are all there to support each other and help everyone succeed in

achieving their goals. Jocilyn is such an amazing coach, person, and friend. The CTC

family has helped me become a better athlete and grow as a person in ways I could

have never imagined and I could not be any more grateful for Jocilyn and the rest of the

CTC crew for pushing me to be the best I can be every single day.
